This project allowed us to take a deep dive into Olympic history, long before each of us were born. It was exciting to see that the United States has had prolonged Olympic dominance in the most popular Olympic sports, and this makes us optimistic for the future of USA athletes. We also enjoyed comparing historical athletes with those we grew up watching, like Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, and Allyson Felix. Examing historical trends in athlete height and weight, as well as age of medal winners provided unique insights, some of which were intuitive and others which were exciting to unveil. We had a fantastic time working on this project and look forward to potentially continuing our analysis in other classes or elsewhere.
